Microflex at high altitude
Located at 2,300 m above sea level in the heart of the Dolomites, with a spectacular view of the Catinaccio Group, the Rosszähne, Mount Sassolungo, the Sella Group and many other peaks of the Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme, this mountain lodge has been welcoming guests since the 1990s in a comfortable and homely setting, and recently had its plumbing and heating systems modernized.
To undertake the works that were required, the management called in Tavana Matteo S.r.l, a company specializing in the installation of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems.
Following thorough analysis at the planning stage, the installer decided on Watts Microflex®, a pre-insulated flexible piping system designed for fluid distribution in central HVAC systems, and for domestic water distribution both in single dwellings and in large district heating networks.
In particular, the products used were Microflex® Cool Uno with self-regulating heating cable for domestic water circuits having a single internal SDR11 pipe of PE-HD, suitable for potable water up to 25 °C a pressures up to 16 bar, and Microflex® DUO for HVAC systems, with paired internal SDR11 pipes of PEX-a featuring an oxygen diffusion barrier (to DIN 4726), suitable for fluids at temperatures of -10...95 °C and pressures up to 6 bar.
Both of the Microflex® models selected also feature multilayer thermal insulation of CFC-free expanded PEX cross-linked polyethylene having a closed-cell structure, and a double-wall corrugated outer casing of PE-HD — High Density Polyethylene.
